The Colorado Springs People’s Coalition is a grassroots organization dedicated to the people’s movements in Colorado Springs.
Our Mission
The Colorado Springs People’s Coalition builds the people’s movements in Colorado Springs by engaging everyday people in political struggle through unity of action, guided by the St. Paul Principles, while centering and uplifting marginalized voices. We recognize global issues represented locally and commit to the safety and liberation of our community.
Our Vision
The Colorado Springs People’s Coalition envisions a Colorado Springs–and world–without racism, discrimination, or political repression; with a strong people’s democracy safeguarding our rights to protest, where policing is fully under community control, and where all oppressed people are liberated.
About Us
The Colorado Springs People’s Coalition (CSPC) is a National Alliance Against Racist & Political Repression (NAARPR) affiliated grassroots organization dedicated to building the people’s movements in Colorado Springs. We believe in organizing the masses through unity of action--guided by the St. Paul Principles--to enact cultural and political change in our local and global communities.
We Are of The People
We hold our members to progressive values that create a future of anti-racism liberation, self-determination, and community safety. CSPC requires mutual respect from all members regarding fellow activists, organizing groups, and especially the immutable identifiers of all involved. In seeking a future of equity, we center the voices and demands of marginalized and oppressed communities in our organizing.
We Are NAARPR-Affiliated
As a NAARPR-affiliated organization, one of our primary objectives in our fight for liberation is to gain community control of the police. We recognize that policing is fundamentally rooted in violence, and encourage people to imagine a world free of any need for policing by the state. We believe community control is a stepping stone towards that shared vision. With community control of the police in our communities NOW, we can ensure both prevention of and accountability for police crimes, jail crimes, and political repression locally and throughout Colorado. We stand in solidarity with the world’s political prisoners and their struggle for liberation.
We Stand With Palestine
CSPC stands in solidarity with the movement for Palestinian liberation and is not afraid to confront the violent ideology of Zionism in our community. We recognize that a permanent ceasefire is needed to end the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people. The liberation of the Palestinian people brings us closer to the liberation of all people. As we fight for self determination here in the States, we recognize the Palestinians national rights to self determination, or Thawabit, and stand in solidarity with Palestinian political prisoners. Free Palestine!
Our Work
To accomplish our mission, bring our vision to reality, and live out our values and principles, we organize campaigns and actions around specific issues and causes, such as:
Fighting Police Crimes
Providing support to local families like the Harris family and Padilla family who have lost loved ones to the Colorado Springs Police Department and the El Paso County Sheriff's Office.
Fighting Jail Crimes
Standing with local families of those lost to the criminal neglect of the CJC, like 19 year old Dezaree Archuleta, and demanding changes to prevent CJC from being a death sentence.
Fighting Political Repression
Connecting with community members targeted by the injustice system like Chris Curry, a trans veteran wrongfully charged with felony menacing for defending herself.
